Heir
Part 5

Westminster Abbey, City of Westminster, London - England, UK
02:55 PM (Wednesday)

The children entered the large Gothic structure, the imposing nave of the abbey receiving them after walking in from the West Door. Visitors were all over the place, of course noticing the young CEO and his "entourage" following him, but no one was daring to approach him, as they feared security was most likely all over the building.

"We should have called your company's security for this..." Chris lamented.

"We are not going to take long in here." Seymour stated in a hurry as they approached Newton's tomb. "Let's just finish this chase before anyone else interferes."

They approached Sir Isaac Newton's final resting place next to the choir screen, all of the details untouched.

"It said to look ON the tomb?" Maria asked. "I thought it was near it..."

"It is, it must be around here somewhere..."

Anaya was visibly fidgeting in place.

"Seymour, I know we're tense and needing to rush..." she stated. "But I cannot stay without saying this, I need to tell y--"

"Hey look, there they are!"

The kids looked in surprise at three hedgehogs, a teenage boy, a man in a lab coat with a weird-looking hair, and a news reporter lady with an even WEIRDER hair, walking to them from a certain distance they were before.

"Maria! Seymour!!" Doc called, running towards them.

Their path was suddenly interrupted when several men in suits and sunglasses appeared, bearing the Weever Industries logo on their uniform, as a familiar face approached as well.

"I'll have to ask you all to stand aside, civilians." Gringotts mused, stepping into scene. "Not wanting to cause a fuss in a public place, much less an abbey, so keep your distance, ok? We're here exclusively to help Mr. Weever during his visit to Westminster."

"Ah cough it up, Greggy!" Agatha spat. "Ya know you and your subordinates over there don't have a chance against us, and we know what your deal is!"

"Step away from the kids, sir." Doc said in a serious tone and glare.

"Whaddya mean 'step away'!?" Flavio pointed out. "Just shock these guys in--"

A certain clicking sound drew his attention back at Gringotts, who was now behind Seymour, holding a plastic gun to his back in a discreet manner, so it wouldn't be seen by anyone. More clicks were heard afterwards, aiming at the other children caught in the circle.

"See, maybe you're right and you can't die because of me..." the banker said in a dark whisper. "But Lil' Mr. Sunshine here can. And I don't give two cents if his brother knows of me or not. One twitch from either of you, and any headaches you may cause me, Dr. von Neurotic, and I'll have your kids' brains splattered all over the chapel."

"How do you know I'll be the one causing your headache?" Doc said in implied threat.

"I won't." the financier replied. "But I usually tend to get a headache or two when I'm stressed, so, try not to get me like that, hm?"

Doc growled under his breath as they were all led by the abductors towards a locked door, which as a sign indicated, led to the abbey's Chapter House. Instead of a lock, the grating was held shut by what seemed to be a coin slot.

"Hmm... I'm all outta change." Gringotts mocked. "Hey 'boss', got any spare?"

Seymour grunted in annoyance and took out the tuppence he found at St. Paul's steps and used them on the slot. It made a locking sound once both were inserted, causing it to fall down and the grate to open.

"Awww, ain't that sweet?" the financier added. "Mommy and daddy must be home! Come on, 'boss', let's go say hi. And get us some gifts from them."

They walked down the aisle, towards the vast Chapter House the abbey had. No one was inside at the time since the place was under reform, scaffolding and cleaning equipment still laid around the room, which allowed the tugs to spread out more, to keep the extra visitors and the other three children at bay as Gringotts led Seymour to the center of the room, towards the large pillar in the exact middle, as light shined in from the windows up top, creating a somewhat heavenly atmosphere. If it wasn't for the hostage situation, that is.

"You wanna know what's the best part about being in my position?" Gregorius boasted. "Getting all the info on you guys. I can walk up to my office, check the bookcases and transaction records, living and house records... I didn't get it for everyone, mind you, the new batch should be in the mail by tomorrow. But now that I have you guys here as extras to witness me saving my skin from my boss, I can finally brag about how I have one of G.U.N.'s finest murderer freaks, a future reject, a failure at gaming sales and their idiot friends with powers... and there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to prevent me from pointing a gun at the world's richest kid!"

Seymour was looking around the pillar in the center as two thugs kept their own guns targeted at him. It was impossible for the kid to do anything to fight back, as he could sense the laser cells set on the highest setting, which would guarantee an instant nervous system shutdown. Death, basically.

"I hope you know who his brother is, Gringotts." Shadow muttered. "A man that dedicated to killing me is not gonna spare any expense from that city of his to attack you."

"Maybe, agent, but personally, his brother's life is the most important to him." Gregorius replied. "Even if it doesn't look like, Ryan's always been a big daddy-o to Seymour here. And he'll even give his own life to save his bro's. Speaking of, are we done there yet, kid?"

"Do not rush me, Gregorius..." Seymour said under his breath.

"Sorry, let me rephrase myself."

He flat-out hit Seymour with the back of the gun, bruising the right side of his face.

"SEYMOUR!!" everyone called out, trying to rush in.

As they tried, though, Gringotts pointed his gun at him again.

"NOT ANOTHER STEP!!" he shouted.

The heroes stopped dead on their tracks.

"Again, let me rephrase myself!" he said in a higher tone. "Kid, either you find something in this place or I'll shut YOU down like the computers you love so much! And ONE FREAKING STEP FROM ANY OF YOUR SPEEDY FRIENDS warrants the DEATH SENTENCE FOR YOUR GROUP!"

Seymour quickly recovered and looked around the pillar again, finally discovering what seemed to be a hatch at the very base of it. He pulled it out discreetly to reveal a button of some sorts. Curious, he pressed it, but nothing seemed to happen, until...

"Hey Mr. Gringotts..." one of the thugs said. "Did ya remember to see if this place had AC?"

"It's a chapter house, you moron, there ain't any other wiring in this place other than the lights!" Gregorius said.

"Cus I'm meltin' over here!" he complained again.

"One more of that and I'm shutting YOU do--"

As Gringotts was about to point his gun at the thug, he noticed his hand felt greasy, slippery. And increasingly hot. When he looked, the gun was melting on his hand due to the increasing heat of the room, triggered by the button Seymour pressed. The same was happening to all the other henchmen in the room, as their guns also melted on their pockets, giving them all burns around their bodies. Gringotts himself was holding his hand in pain.

"NOW, GET'EM!!" Sonic shouted.

The hedgehogs quickly took down the henchmen with some help from Flavio, Doc and Silver rounding them up in a pile and knocking them unconscious.

"Now step away from Seymour, my daughter and our friends or I'm blowing YOUR brains out!" Doc shouted.

"End of line, Gringotts!" Silver emphasized.

"OH YOU THINK THAT'S IT, HUH?!"

He shouted, drawing a real gun out of his suit, immediately shooting right at Doc's feet, causing him to yell from fright and fall backwards, as his fear of guns emerged. When the others tried to move in on him, he pointed the gun behind himself, aiming at Seymour.

"EVERYONE STAY AWAY OR I'M KILLING OFF THE KID!!" he shouted angrily. "THIS TREASURE IS MINE BY RIGHT! I DESERVE IT! I'M THE FINANCIER OF THIS BRAT'S FAMILY! HE'S NOTHING WITHOUT ME!! I HAVE THE GUN AND I'M GOING TO MAKE HIM GIVE IT TO ME, AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT HIS DEADBEAT BROTHER, SOME FUZZY FAST RATS AND A BUNCH OF OUT-OF-TIME MISFITS AND A NEWSLADY WITH AN ANT FARM ON HER HEAD!! I'M IN CHARGE! I HAVE THE AUTHORITY!! AND I--"

"And you still lost, Gregorius."

Deep, British voice behind him. This seriously snapped the banker out of his tantrum. When he turned around, a hand grabbed him by the neck to choke him, causing him to drop the handgun.

Ryan Weever lifted him off the ground as the man was trying to release himself from the grip to no avail. His eyes were a menacing golden glow staring into Gringotts' soul.

"Don't ever... touch my brother... or his friends... again." he growled.

"Hahahaha... Like you did in Britannia?" the man said, finding snark even as his life hung on balance. "I saw the kid's diary... You're no different than me, Ryan... You're low-grade trash like I am..."

The Englishman seemed to calm down slightly while still holding the banker by the neck.

"I will never stop admitting that." he said. "But you want to know how we differ from each other? I make sure no one follows my example through therapy... And the results are more often than not, promising... No matter how hard the therapy goes."

His gaze went back to that of a true beast.

"I'll see you in my office... Gregorius."

With a swift move, Ryan spun the man around like a ragdoll and threw him at full force against the scaffolding next to the large windows in the room. As he hit the structure, it collapsed on top of him, burying the man under a pile of dirt, cloth and metal, only his hand visible out of the pile. Seymour approached it, his face still bruised. Nonchalantly, he took out a pink slip from his pocket and signed it with a pen.

"Here, you might need this since you won't work for anyone for a while." he said, leaving the slip on Gregorius' hand before stepping on it hard, causing it to wince. "Or ever again."

Ryan hugged Seymour for dear life, crying as Seymour did as well, hugging each other in a genuine moment of brotherly affection. The others sighed with relief.

And just in time for the police sirens to ring outside.
Second-to-last part of Heir. Hope you enjoy it!
